We believe that the best services for young children and their families are services that listen to what parents have to say and where parents take an active part in their development. Parents are actively involved in all aspects of our service delivery. We have a Partnership Board that makes decisions about services in the area. The Chair of the Partnership is Maria Samaniego, and the Vice-Chairs are Dolores Gooden-Husbands and Rahel Seyoum. All three are local parents.
Our partner organisations include Health, Education, and Social Support Services including many voluntary organisations. Together we provide a range of services including
- Quality play, learning and childcare
- Enhanced healthcare services, including advice about child health and development
- Support for children with special needs, including access to specialist services
- Family support delivered directly in the home and in groups
- Advice and information, including counselling and benefits advice
An exciting new development for the Partnership in 2005 is the building of a new Children and Parents' Centre, 1st Place, in Burgess Park. This Centre has been developed in consultation with parents and will provide much needed additional childcare and early education places for very young children as well as a range of training opportunities and activities for parents and children together. It is due to open in the Autumn. Watch this space for up-to-date information on progress. Click on 'Job Spot' to find out about the latest jobs being advertised for 1st Place.
